After the deaths of 2Pac and Notorious BIG, there was a culture shift in the type of music that was being made, to a degree.  I feel people were sick of what led to their untimely deaths, so people stayed away from the beef, and that opened the door for the “Bling Bling” era.  Cash Money Records heavily capitalized on these times by burning up the charts in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.  One of their biggest records, came via the group the Hot Boys.  “I Need A Hot Girl” defined and effectively started their version of the shift immensely.

Featuring guest bars from the Big Tymers, aka Mannie Fresh and Baby, this song paid homage to looking for women, particularly good-looking women.  Laid over some classic Mannie Fresh production, this single was definitely one of the stand out cuts from their album Guerilla Warfare.  In hindsight, it is very interesting and cool to catch a very young Lil Wayne spitting before his meteoric rise in the rap game.  Check out “I Need A Hot Girl” below.  What is your favorite Cash Money Records song from this time period?  Comment below!
